A 14-year-old girl was critically injured when her bicycle was struck by a silver or white Mercedes on Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach on the evening of Tuesday, August 11th. The hit-and-run crash occurred around 8:20 p.m. at Anade Avenue and East Bay Avenue.

According to authorities, the victim was biking east on East Bay Avenue with a group of bicyclists when a westbound driver struck her at Anade. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene. The victim, a 14-year-old girl from San Carlos, was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The incident remains under investigation. Authorities are seeking anyone with information regarding the hit-and-run.
