One person was killed and four more were injured after an SUV drove into a donut shop in Canoga Park late Saturday, October 4th. The deceased was only identified as a transient, middle-aged Asian man. The crash occurred at the Jolly Donut, located at De Soto Avenue and Roscoe Boulevard, about 9:30 p.m.

There were six customers in the store at the time of the incident. At least five people were struck by the Jeep Liberty or debris as it plowed through the shop. Those five were taken to a local hospital, with all listed in critical condition just after the crash. The deceased victim was pronounced dead on arrival.

The driver was identified as Kristin Chang, 42, of Granada Hills. No arrests have been made. Authorities suspect Chang may have accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal, but many of the stores occupants think the crash may have happened on purpose. Authorities are continuing to investigate the crash.
