A 57-year-old woman was killed after her vehicle was involved in a crash, rolled over, and fell down a 100 feet embankment on Interstate 5 north of Castaic Sunday, June 7th. The deceased victim has been identified as Rosa Torres, of Salinas. The crash occurred in the Angeles National Forest just before 2:30 p.m.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. According to witnesses, the vehicle, a 2010 Chevy Malibu, was driving south on Interstate 5 before rolling over several times, exiting the freeway, and falling 100 feet down an embankment. Torres, the front passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. Both Torres and the driver, a 22-year-old, were not wearing their seatbelts and were ejected from the vehicle. Three children in the backseat, aged 15, 8, and 4, were wearing their seatbelts. The driver and the children were taken to nearby hospitals with serious injuries.

Authorities do not believe that the driver was under the influence. One lane of the southbound freeway was closed for investigation. The entire south 5 was closed when helicopters arrived on scene.
