Check back for details on the 2019 Community Scholarship at the end of this year.
The scholarship will help me toward my current long set goals. I currently have many aspiartions set for my sophomore year in college yet the main big setback would be my lack of funds for attending school worry free. This current year I am doing my best by living on campus housing, so I indent to house on campus next year for that purpose. Although I am aware that if I can't afford to live on campus due to the expense I will have to return to living at home. This is an option I would rather not be forced to put myself through since my grades would certainly fall due to the time lost form travel and cause me unneeded stress. I truly want to do well in college so I know receiving funds from this scholarship will make me at ease to be a productive student.
Upon receiving this scholarship I will use it to pay my tuition, book fees, or housing. I am determined to finish college in four years, with the help of this scholarship I know anything is possible. I want to go far in life, for example being a nurse because helping people has always been my passion. This scholarship will open door ways that I never imagine. For my entire life I fought for what I believed in including my education, If you can help me continue school and finish in four years I would greatly appreciated. I sincerely want to thank you for this opportunity and this will truly be a blessing in my life.
Upon receiving this scholarship, I will surely fulfill my financial need and have the security of paying school costs that include textbooks and academic softwares. Additionally, it will allow me to repay my current debts that lessen my opportunities to succeed financially and build stability in the future.
During the spring, I eagerly prepared myself to assist low-income members of our community. I volunteered with Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA). Not only did VITA help individuals alleviate the burden of paying for tax preparation, it also served as a tool for us young adults.
"Hi, nice to meet you,"I called in either Spanish or English. Introducing myself and making our clients feel secure was important in order to have a well-run student volunteer tax assistance site. Once we ensure our customers had filled out their personal information correctly and depending on the language they spoke, we assigned them to one of our volunteers.
As I eagerly waited for my turn to prepare an individual's taxes, I began reviewing the key points to preparing taxes. While I introduced myself to a woman I was going to assist, I put my nerves aside in order to present myself as a leader. Filing taxes did not only allow me to learn how the IRS worked; it also taught me how to work with older adults. Since our tax site focused on low-income individuals, most clients did not have a financial adviser who could inform them about how to file taxes.
Working as a tax assistant, I learned much more than just how to prepare taxes. I learned about my clients’ jobs and careers. Many individuals were happy to work with young adults, but many others did not have much patience. Therefore, knowing how to act in an understanding matter was vital for me to be a good leader.
My experiences made me want to continue learning new ways to make a difference in an people's lives since helping others has been an important aspect of my growth. With the help of the Larry H. Parker scholarship, I will use my skills as a way to help others while attending the University of California, Irvine while setting the standards high for my family.
I plan to use the needed funds for expensive textbooks and other school finances like housing application fees, meal plans, and even transportation from my hometown in Los Angeles back to Humboldt County.
The scholarship money would be used towards my tuition and books. This scholarship will enable me to attend this school that will prepare me to fulfill my dream of becoming an actress.
With this scholarship, I can cover the rest of the costs for me to attend Rice University. As a low-income student attending a top 15 university, I am at somewhat more of an disadvantage than my peers. But I will not allow that to stop me from achieving my goals of studying computer science and neuroscience. Career-wise, I want to be a project manager for a company that develops Artificial Intelligence. I'm really interested in the future of technology and the vast of power and intricacies of our brains. I see the crosssection of those two topics, AI, as an important asset to the future of our world, and I want to be a part of it. Furthering my education at Rice University is the first step in doing that.
This scholarship will totally reconstruct my life. I am so grateful to receive this scholarship. My goal with this scholarship would be to assist me into moving on campus. Therefore, I can remove myself from a toxic household and be in an environment where I can better myself. I believe living on campus will provide support and access to be more successful.
I'm planning to use the scholarship funds to pay for my debts that I'll receive once I attend college next year.

My goal is to use the scholarship money to help cover the cost of my tuition. This alongside, hopefully, other scholarships will help me avoid having debt from loans.
As one of the recipients of this generous scholarship, it helps to fulfill my goal to become a special education teacher. As I am nearing graduation from high school, I am preparing to move to Utah in the fall and will be attending Brigham Young University to complete my education dedicated toward my special education degree. I have a strong desire to become a special education teacher. I have grown up with a twenty-two-year-old profoundly handicapped brother that is mentally a one-year-old. Growing up and helping to take care of my brother has helped me develop compassion and have a special place in my heart for those with special needs. Receiving this scholarship will help me pay for my housing and transportation means, as well as books and supplies for school. Thank you for considering me for this scholarship

I plan to use the scholarship money to help pay for my higher education, since I will not be receiving a lot of Financial Aid. It will also help me receive my Bachelors in Communications that will hopefully help me get into the Long Beach Police Department.

The priority would be paying for my remaining tuition, allowing me to have a fuller educational experience. I can use the remaining money to pay for the class textbooks, which will allow me to study a my own pace, highlighting and taking notes as needed. In contrast, I could also use some of the remaining money to help fund the cost of living on campus. Living at home I would have to drive a total of 4 hours every day, meaning I will come home very late and will have to sacrifice either an adequate sleep pattern or my grades, both of which would lead to a deterioration in my academic success and overall health.
My goal with this scholarship is to pay for tuition. After paying for tuition I will be able to apply for internships and research positions. These positions will help me when I attend the HENAAC conference in the upcoming October and get another internship. These internships will help me when I apply for a job after I finish college. I need to take care of paying my tuition first so I can focus on expanding my resume.
This money helps ease the stress off of me and my single mom of twins. It will help me fulfill my goals of graduating college as a first generation student; this really means a lot to me. I know my potential and I don't want financial hardships to be the reason I can't achieve a higher education.
In the eighth grade I was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (A.D.H.D). I often struggled with the concept of me being different than my peers, I slowly became more cautious of myself and focused on what I could do instead of couldn't. For instance people with A.D.H.D are more creative, have higher IQ's, and have the ability to hyperfocus. Going into my first year of high school as a freshman I was given medicine but I was also given a daily dose of Wilson's AVID program (Advance, Via, Individual, Determination), a college prep class for diverse students. Both have changed my life drastically and I even began to love school again. With the help of AVID I have developed great time management skills, this year I have even made it on the principal's honor roll! I now love my A.D.H.D and if I had the choice to live with or without it. I would want it because it is not a disorder. It is a part of who I am and my character. Most of the time A.D.H.D is not shown in a positive light and I am here to challenge that idea.
I believe we are created to have a purpose and I have discovered mine or maybe it found me. Thanks to my passion for helping others I became an Intern at the YMCA and have learned to treat people of all ages with kindness and respect. In fact, with the help of my high school I am trying to bring my goal of a non profit hair salon for people who are low income or homeless into fruition by partnering with their More For Students program.
I also have been a varsity wrestler for three years and played lacrosse in my junior year. I am currently the captain of the girls varsity wrestling team, I have received Most Valuable Player, placed second in Moore League two years in a row and lettered in both wrestling and lacrosse.
In wrestling my coaches have trained us to be in the best physical and moral shape. When I first joined wrestling I vomited everyday, not because I felt sick because my body had never been pushed that hard before. My friends would call me crazy and question why I kept going; clearly they did not know the meaning of hard work. I am proud when my body starts to feel uneasy because I know I am breaking down old physical and mental barriers.
My purpose in life is to be courageous, strong and selfless. I am going to be a firefighter. I recognized this from one of my wrestling coaches who is training to be a fireman and inspired me to become one as well. My coaches are strong male figures to me and have deeply influenced my life. Because of my experience in wrestling I have developed the mindset that I will never settle for less than my full potential and I am very grateful for that.
I am currently working at Ralph's as a bagger and working with staff pro for temporary work. As the only house income I am trying my best to prepare financial for college but despite my best efforts I still need help. With the guidance of AVID and wrestling I have gained the confidence to go after any goal I set for myself.
Thank you for extending your deadline if it was not for that I would have never heard of your scholarships and taken the opportunity to share my story with all of you.

College has always been a dream of mine because I have a desire to push myself and further my education. By being granted the honor of receiving this scholarship I going to use it towards furthering this goal of mine. The money would go towards my college education process. I would also use it responsibly because I acknowledge and respect that this scholarship is a privilege to accept.
This money will help pay off my tuition, including my text books for the following school year. I don't have any source of income and this scholarship really helps me prevent from getting myself deeper in debt.

I plan to attend UCLA and study the field of Biochemistry, along with working in an undergraduate research laboratory. This scholarship will help my family fund my college tuition, and help me purchase the resources necessary to develop my education. With my college education I plan to study in vaccine research and develop new pharmaceuticals and vaccines for the future.

My educational aspirations consist of acquiring a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management.
My career vision is to be a Sports Analyst. Sports is my passion, pursuing such a career will provide me the opportunity to pursue not only my future, but my dream. I also have signed by letter of intent to play baseball next year at The University of Antelope Valley, being able to pursue not only my career goal to obtain a College Degree, but to play sports at the same time. Both are a goal and a dream I have always had since I was little.

The Law Offices of Larry H. Parker Community Scholarship allows me to navigate my way through college, by providing me with resources to buy costly textbooks and pay for housing. As a first-generation student, I am directly learning about the burdens of paying for tuition and taking out loans. With the Larry H. Parker Community Scholarship, I will be able to implement ways to allocate the funds I receive in an efficient and helpful manner. In the future, I hope to pursue a career in social justice and community development, and through this scholarship, I will be able to take courses and buy the school supplies I need to further my educational experience. Not only will the Larry H. Parker Community Scholarship alleviate some of the stress from my financial situation, but it will also motivate me to give back and create an enriching future for my community.
