Fresno, CA (March 19, 2024) –  Jason Philips (24) and Chase McCutcheon (32), both from Fresno, died in a car accident in Fresno. Another passenger sustained moderate injuries. According to The Fresno Bee, the accident happened around 1:45 a.m. on Monday.

Jason Philips, 24, and Chase McCutcheon, 32, both from Fresno, killed in a car accident involving a Tesla in Fresno.

The Fresno County Coroner’s Office confirmed their identities.

According to the report, they were in a Tesla Model 3 that crashed into multiple guardrails.

The California Highway Patrol stated the crash on Copper Avenue occurred when the Tesla, heading west, failed to navigate a road shift near Willow Avenue.

Reportedly, the driver lost control after moving at high speed, hit a curb, a guardrail, a street sign, and overturned.

Then, the car’s erratic motion continued, colliding with another curb and guardrail. 

Moreover, authorities revealed that neither Jason Philips nor Chase McCutcheon had seatbelts on during the accident, leading to their ejection and subsequent death at the scene.

Additionally, a 37-year-old man in the back seat suffered moderate injuries and received treatment at Fresno’s Community Regional Medical Center.

Presently, CHP investigators are now probing if alcohol played a role in the St. Patrick’s Day weekend crash.
