At least six people were injured when a car-hauling big rig had a tire blowout, causing a fiery crash on the 210 Freeway in Arcadia on the evening of Monday, May 18th. The big rig came to rest across the center divider. At least five people were taken to local hospitals for injuries. The crash occurred near the Santa Anita Avenue exit.

According to authorities, around 7 p.m., the truck blew its tire. The truck struck the center divider and rear-ended some vehicles, one of which caught fire. The car fire spread to the cab of the big rig. Debris from the crash entered oncoming traffic, causing more damage and minor accidents. The crash was very similar to a recent fatal crash in Fullerton.

The crash closed both directions of the freeway for about 30 minutes. Some lanes were reopened to traffic before 8 p.m. and all lanes were reopened about five hours later.
