A two-car crash on the eastbound 60 Freeway caused both vehicles to erupt in flame, killing 1, injuring 1 early Monday, February 16th. The deceased victim was only identified as a man in his 30s. The crash occurred near South Atlantic Boulevard in Monterey Park around 5:50 a.m. At least one other person involved in the crash suffered moderate injuries.

The cause of the crash was unclear. The aftermath of the crash saw both vehicles in flames near the center divider. A SigAlert was issued for the 60 East, with only one open lane. A second lane was opened around 6:30. Authorities were able to extinguish the fire and concluded on-site investigation and clean up around 9:00 when the freeway was reopened.
