Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs)

Studies in the Journal of the American Medical Association have raised concern over a link between popular antacid prescription drugs Nexium, Prevacid, and Prilosec and an increased risk of hip fractures.  Patients who took these PPIs increased their risk of hip fracture by 44%.  Even newer research suggests that female smokers may be at an even higher risk of hip fractures.
