Anti-smoking medication Chantix (varenicline) may increase the risk of heart attack.  The FDA issued a safety announcement regarding Chantix after a randomized trial noted that heart attacks and other cardiovascular events were reported more frequently in patients who were taking Chantix than in patients taking placebo.
