Accutane Litigation
Accutane was discontinued in 2009. Plaintiffs have won over $45 million in judgments against Roche, alleging that the company did not properly warn of the potential for developing IBD. In 2010, a plaintiff was awarded over $25 million after developing a chronic case of ulcerative colitis. The plaintiff's ulcerative colitis ultimately lead to the removal of his colon and other severe complications. In this trial, Roche was found at fault for failing to inform consumers of the dangers and risks of Accutane. Roche was also blamed for possessing evidence that the drug could cause symptoms associated with IBD. More litigation is pending.
