DePuy Hip Replacements

DePuy Orthopaedics has announced a recall of its DePuy ASR XL Acetabular System and DePuy ASR Hip Resurfacing System.  These items are used in hip replacements.  An unacceptable number of people who were fitted with these devices required a second hip replacement surgery, called a revision surgery, after experiencing pain and other symptoms.  Studies have shown that over a five year time span, approximately 12% of patients fitted with the ASR Hip Resurfacing System and 13% of patients fitted with the ASR XL Acetabular System required a revision surgery.

We are also accepting inquiries in to similar failures of DePuy Pinnacle products.  While DePuy Pinnacle products have not been specifically recalled, there have been many complaints by patients who have been fitted with these products.

A warning to all persons requiring a revision surgery:  do not allow DePuy to keep the defective product.  DePuy may try to have revision surgery patients sign releases allowing the company to take the defective hip implant, which could seriously hurt your product liability case.  You should not have to sign any documents related to the DePuy ASR product before or after a hip revision surgery.
