Tire Tread Separation Accident Lawyers in Los Angeles
Federal safety regulators have announced a recall of Westlake, Compass, Telluride and YKS brand tires manufactured in China by Hangzhou Zhongce Rubber Company. An unknown number of these tires may be prone to tread separation. The tires have been distributed in California by Tireco and K&D Wholesalers LLC. Other U.S. distributors include Strategic Import Supply, Omni United USA, Inc., Orteck International, Inc. and Robinson Tire.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has determined that some batches of these tires were manufactured without a gum strip, which is a safety feature that helps bind the belts of a tire to each other. Other batches of tires have gum strips of substandard width.
The affected tires are primarily used on light-duty trucks and vans. The tire sizes include (but are not limited to) LT235/75R-15, LT225/75R-16, LT235/85R-16, LT245/75R-16, LT265/75R-16 and LT3X10.5-15.
