Rear axle corrosion in Ford Windstars with model years 1999-2003 has become a major concern for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The NHTSA has announced that it will be conducting an engineering analysis of about 550,000 vehicles. Over 300 people have complained to the NHTSA thus far about corrosion and broken front subframes. Problems may be exacerbated by road salt.
