Who Qualifies?

All candidates must be a graduating senior with a grade point average of at least 3.00, and must be committed to attending college. College counselors at various high schools select award recipients except for those scholarships designated for the Community Build foundation. These recipients are chosen by the Community Build Program Director.

The support and development of youth in California and Arizona will help ensure a bright and positive future for our community. Consistent with this belief, The Law Offices of Larry H. Parker has established the Larry H. Parker Scholar Incentive Awards. Every year, 20 scholarships will be presented to high school students in California and Arizona who exhibit a commitment to improving their community through service and education. Award recipients have distinguished themselves through academic excellence, while exhibiting the motivation and desire to succeed despite extenuating circumstances.

Many recipients of the Larry H. Parker Scholar Incentive Awards are disadvantaged students from single parent households. Some students, in addition to maintaining academic excellence, help support their family through employment at a part-time job or assisting in the care of their younger siblings. Some students are already giving back to their community through volunteer services. Regardless of the situation, all students display the motivation and desire to succeed.

Five scholarships are presented to high school seniors who are involved at Community Build, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering inner-city youth and fostering economic development.
